Invention can be defined as the discovery of new ideas, tools or process; on the other hand innovation can be defined as development or use of an invention for some useful purpose. Invention and Innovation plays very important role in any scientific research.The words invention and innovation are sometimes used interchangeably. However, they are quite distinct, although not mutually exclusive. An invention is a new creation, device or process, derived from an individual’s ideas or from scientific research, while an innovation is the practical application or commercialization of a new idea or concept into something of value in the marketplace, whether it is a new product, process or organizational system.

The major motivation behind IIIRJ is the philosophy that without invention & innovation, any scientific research would be merely inquiry for its own sake, serving few and helping no one. Invention refers to new concepts or products derived from an individual’s ideas or from scientific research. Innovation, on the other hand, is the commercialization of the invention itself.
